19-05-2008 Madrid Sister of Queen Sofia of Spain, Irene, at the Ruber Hospital.
Irene had an operation after suffering a fall and breaking two toes of one foot, three days earlier in Athens.
Queen Sofia remained at the clinic with her sister during the operation. The operation was conducted by Dr. Enrique Escribano, who had to introduce several pins in the two fractured toes.
